# Axiomata > An original work of philosophy written as literature: a bilingual codex of > thirty-six principles, four chapters of nine, on how a self is forged, joined > to others, tempered into character, and finally spent. Axiomata is an original work of philosophy written as literature. Thirty-six principles are arranged as four chapters of nine, moving in a single developmental arc: from Mneme (Memory: how a self is forged from what wounded it), through Harmonia (Connection) and Arete (Character), to Telos (Purpose: how a soul spends itself and surrenders). It thinks alongside classical Greek ethics, particularly virtue understood not as a rule but as a living tension held between two opposite ways of failing. It is not a summary, anthology, commentary, or translation of any older text; the principles, figures, and language are original. Each principle keeps a fixed form: an aphoristic quote, a portrait called the Threshold, a wisdom passage called 'The Way', two shadow studies, and a final piercing question called the Cut. The two shadows dramatise the opposite betrayals that flank the Way - one figure who withholds or refuses the virtue, and one who clings to it or over-performs it. Most figures carry epithets (the Pristine, the Unyielding, the Tireless); a recurring subset bear the names of the very virtues they cannot embody - the Merciful who deserts, the Just who cuts into living flesh, the Generous whose sweetness finds no soil. The site is a single static codex: no commerce, login, or user-generated content. ## Entry points - [Home](https://axiomata.org/): the constellation of all 36 principles. - [Sitemap (XML)](https://axiomata.org/sitemap.xml): every canonical URL with hreflang pairs. ## Mneme - Memory - [Mneme - Memory chapter overview](https://axiomata.org/mnimi/) - [Heritage](https://axiomata.org/heritage/) - "You become the edge that carved you" - [Agon](https://axiomata.org/agon/) - "The hero is the scar's answer to the sword" - [Bathos](https://axiomata.org/bathos/) - "Most abysses are knee-deep" - [Ordeal](https://axiomata.org/ordeal/) - "The pearl is the grain denied its edge" - [Reckoning](https://axiomata.org/reckoning/) - "Every locked room keeps two prisoners" - [Remembrance](https://axiomata.org/remembrance/) - "The wood alone knows which ring is the storm" - [Wonder](https://axiomata.org/wonder/) - "The fire that warms the hands drowns the stars" - [Mythos](https://axiomata.org/mythos/) - "A constellation is a promise strung across the void" - [Bloom](https://axiomata.org/bloom/) - "The blossom is the violence the seed kept secret" ## Harmonia - Connection - [Harmonia - Connection chapter overview](https://axiomata.org/harmonia/) - [Recognition](https://axiomata.org/recognition/) - "When the mirror breaks, the stranger is revealed" - [Forgiveness](https://axiomata.org/forgiveness/) - "The fist becomes what it will not release" - [Philia](https://axiomata.org/philia/) - "The beam crosses only where the air still stands" - [Compassion](https://axiomata.org/compassion/) - "Warmth thrown from the ridge lands as ice" - [Parrhesia](https://axiomata.org/parrhesia/) - "Rot loves the silence we christen peace" - [Justice](https://axiomata.org/justice/) - "A lie held long enough becomes a floor" - [Fidelity](https://axiomata.org/fidelity/) - "True north demands mutiny" - [Conspiracy](https://axiomata.org/conspiracy/) - "Branches war; roots conspire" - [Reverence](https://axiomata.org/reverence/) - "Holy is the hollow worn by passing feet" ## Arete - Character - [Arete - Character chapter overview](https://axiomata.org/areti/) - [Ignition](https://axiomata.org/ignition/) - "The sun is a collapse that learnt to burn" - [Integrity](https://axiomata.org/integrity/) - "The bell confesses to the hammer" - [Sophrosyne](https://axiomata.org/sophrosyne/) - "Music lives one breath before the snap" - [Discipline](https://axiomata.org/discipline/) - "The held string teaches the hand when to open" - [Phronesis](https://axiomata.org/phronesis/) - "The reef does not ask who was certain" - [Courage](https://axiomata.org/courage/) - "The hand shakes; the match lights" - [Philotimo](https://axiomata.org/philotimo/) - "The fire wants wood, not witness" - [Grace](https://axiomata.org/grace/) - "The fruit falls for the seed, not the soil" - [Magnanimity](https://axiomata.org/magnanimity/) - "The mountain stands, and the weather bends" ## Telos - Purpose - [Telos - Purpose chapter overview](https://axiomata.org/telos/) - [Anamnesis](https://axiomata.org/anamnesis/) - "Thirst is the desert's memory of the ocean" - [Genesis](https://axiomata.org/genesis/) - "The first star was a flaw in the perfect dark" - [Calling](https://axiomata.org/calling/) - "The right handle quiets the hand" - [Destiny](https://axiomata.org/destiny/) - "Every escape bends towards its centre" - [Eudaimonia](https://axiomata.org/eudaimonia/) - "The keystone rests in the weight it bears" - [Sacrifice](https://axiomata.org/sacrifice/) - "Only what is spent becomes light" - [Passage](https://axiomata.org/passage/) - "The riverbed is carved by what it carries" - [Legacy](https://axiomata.org/legacy/) - "When the light dies, only gravity speaks" - [Death](https://axiomata.org/death/) - "The last grain falls as simply as the first" ## Greek edition Every English URL has a Greek twin under `/el/`: - [Greek home](https://axiomata.org/el/) - Chapters: [/el/mnimi/](https://axiomata.org/el/mnimi/) · [/el/harmonia/](https://axiomata.org/el/harmonia/) · [/el/areti/](https://axiomata.org/el/areti/) · [/el/telos/](https://axiomata.org/el/telos/) - Principles: /el/heritage/ · /el/agon/ · /el/bathos/ · /el/ordeal/ · /el/reckoning/ · /el/remembrance/ · /el/wonder/ · /el/mythos/ · /el/bloom/ · /el/recognition/ · /el/forgiveness/ · /el/philia/ · /el/compassion/ · /el/parrhesia/ · /el/justice/ · /el/fidelity/ · /el/conspiracy/ · /el/reverence/ · /el/ignition/ · /el/integrity/ · /el/sophrosyne/ · /el/discipline/ · /el/phronesis/ · /el/courage/ · /el/philotimo/ · /el/grace/ · /el/magnanimity/ · /el/anamnesis/ · /el/genesis/ · /el/calling/ · /el/destiny/ · /el/eudaimonia/ · /el/sacrifice/ · /el/passage/ · /el/legacy/ · /el/death/ ## Author Vitali Liouti - creator of AXIOMATA and SIGNALS+ECHOES.
